By the end of 2019, essentially all aircraft that are equipped with transponders today will be required to be equipped with ADS-B. With the RANGR FDL-978-XVR/G, FreeFlight Systems provides an affordable light-weight ADS-B compliant solution for those mostly VFR only aircraft such as Cessna 140, 170, older 150/152’s, 172’s, Piper Cherokees, or any aircraft that does not currently have a WAAS GPS onboard.
FDL-978-XVR/G is a remote mount unit ADS-B system with built-in WAAS GPS receiver to provide the required ADS-B position source in addition to providing ADS-B “In” and “Out”. With RANGR-978-XVR/G, you can leave your current Mode C transponder in place and simply install the RANGR remotely with the supplied GPS antenna, and you can continue to fly your aircraft in compliance beyond the January 2020 ADS-B deadline.
Approved for installation in most light General Aviation (GA) aircraft, the RANGR FDL-978-XVR provides full ADS-B Out rule compliance using existing Mode A/C or Mode S transponders. The system also receives ADS-B “In” FIS-B graphical weather, TIS-B traffic, and other data that can either be displayed on an Apple iPad using the internal Wi-Fi, or a panel mounted multi-function display (MFD). RANGR is now also compatible with ForeFlight, and is also compatible with Garmin GNS 400/500 series units. The RANGR FDL-978-XVR/G is the smallest, lightest and most affordable system available today, is easy to install and is the first UAT certified for rotorcraft.
